Wedding Flowers
When selecting flowers for your wedding, here are a few important tips to bear in mind. Make sure that your flowers are properly stored prior to the big day and that they are strong. Delicate flowers don't usually hold up during the course of a wedding day - especially if they are used as a boutonniere or corsage and will be repeatedly squashed as guests are greeted. Use flowers that aren't likely to leave stains on expensive clothing or that are too large and cumbersome.
Flowers used as table centerpieces should either be short or long enough to be out of the way of conversation. A simple trick when using tall flowers is to place strips of clear tape across the top of the vase in a grid pattern to separate the flowers evenly.
Brides, especially in recent trends, are often opting for full bouquets or fresh flowers with thick stems. Though they are beautiful, by the end of the day the bouquet will feel extremely heavy. If you are planning to have a full bouquet, make sure you give yourself the opportunity to set it down before you start greeting guests. Again make sure that the flowers you select will not leave stains on your dress or on your hands - remember you will be wearing white!
If working with a florist, it's a good idea to bring pictures with you so he or she will more easily be able to catch your vision. It's not necessary that you come prepared with individual flower names, but make sure you have a general idea of what you want to convey to the florist.
